ForgetMeNot Pond

ForgetMeNot Pond
I've painted looking into water en plein air before but I've never tried to execute a large painting of this subject before. I think I was afraid it would look too abstract and no one would get it but the more I paint, the more attracted I'm becoming to the abstractness of all the shapes around me. I'm getting quite captured by it so I felt it was time to go for it. It really beat me up too. I grew more as a painter in this piece than any other painting I've ever done, I think. The technical challenges were really jerks to me the whole way through and I was forced to go into a deeper level of observation and a much more subtle base of color mixing than I've ever gone through. Super fun!
