“Gathered from the Garden” was painted fully from life. This bouquet of locally grown flowers evoked the energy of early spring - bright and ephemeral - and also reminded me of paintings by the Dutch floral masters. Peonies, poppies, and sweet peas are only in season for a short time, so I was inspired to paint them while they were here.
