Ephemeral Mist

Ephemeral Mist, Landscape
Ephemeral Mist
A hauntingly beautiful vision forever etched in my memory, I came upon this sight during a walk in the park near my home in Trumbull. The sun had come out on this late January afternoon after a day of rain which had washed away most of the snow. The ground was still cold, however, and the sun and its warmth created a dreamlike mist that hovered over the overgrown detritus of the community garden. Backlit by the sun, the silhouettes of dead sunflower stalks appeared mysterious and mystical. The mist was gone in less than 30 minutes… I am so grateful to have witnessed it and to represent it in this painting created in the studio.
