Summer Evening at Esquimalt Lagoon

This acrylic painting was inspired by the view across Esquimalt Lagoon on a windless, humid, July evening. The narrow range of values in the scene struck me as a great opportunity to try my hand at painting in a tonalist style. The thin wedge of land on the left side is where we live, at the interface of the sea and the sky.
