This was painted en plein air in oils. It is the neighbourhood cafe down the street from me. Vancouver is full of these street corner cafes in residential areas that become well-loved, bustling hubs for the community. In this scene, the weather has only started to warm up, and the first tulips have begun to blossom. I wanted to capture the easy pleasure of sitting outside a cafe on a sunny, early spring day.
