Fall On The West Fork
This is a plein air oil painting done in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Hope Valley about 50 miles south of Meyers near Lake Tahoe, California. I chose a combination of palette knife and brush to complete this painting on the west Fork of the Carson River. It was very late summer in the Sierras and some of the fall colors were already starting to show. One of the reasons I love to paint on this fork of the river is the fact that the river runs southwest to northeast and at this time of the day all of the exposed rocks in the river are backlit adding to the natural beauty.
