Water lilies on a sunny day

Water lilies on a sunny day is a plein air oil painting I completed at home Spring of 2023. I sought to capture a vivid close view of the pond at my childhood home. I focused on specifically capturing the water lilies in the late morning before they were closed by midday afternoon. Impasto painting was used for a quick impressionistic approach to convey the vegetation and water reflections. This work is a companion piece to another plein air oil painting that captured the same scene, but with cloudy weather before a storm occurred.
