The Flower Fields
The flower fields in Carlsbad provide an abundance of color in spring, but the composition can be tricky. Rows upon rows of ranunculus being picked by dedicated workers backing up to an outlet mall with a church and a windmill against the backdrop of the beautiful Pacific Ocean is just begging to be painted. With some artistic license, careful use of edges, impressions, and light, I hope I've done this romantic scene justice providing a sense of time and place without being a slave to the rendering.
